Development of motives in Jan Skacel's poetry

Main goal of this thesis is determining and comparing repeating motives which appear throuhgout the poets work. This paper aims to first evaluate a dominance of certain motives above the others and then to determine in which collection is their influence greater and how this dominance changes accordingly from the earliest to the latest works. Simultaneously these motives will be compared with key motives in Skácels poems for kids and - supposing there are similar motives - then if their function and meaning differs. The attention of investigating those motives will also be oriented towards collections, which were published parallelly at the same time, as the assumption is, that there will be many more similar features and since they were probably created simultaneously, it will be easier to find differences in authors work that are adressed to both groups of readers. One of the goals of this paper i salso to sumarize the most important milestones of authors life. By dilligent analysis of individual collection were established groups of dominant motives and a comparison between the colleciont for adult and children readers was made. Poet became an editor-in-chief:Transformation of "Host do domu" magazine under the supervision of Jan Skácel(1963-1969)

The subject of this diploma thesis are editorial, thematic and content changes in literary monthly "Host do domu" during time period 1963 - 1969 under Jan Skácel supervision. Title of the thesis is Poet became an editor-in-chief: Transformation of "Host do domu" magazine under the supervision of Jan Skácel (1963-1969). After Skácel was forced to leave the managing post because of the political reasons, the magazine was led by editor Jan Trefulka. Trefulka was trying to continue in the steps of his predecessor and led the magazine in similar style. Therefore I covered also this time period (1969-1970) after which the magazine was completely stopped by the officials. The thesis is based on qualitative analysis of texts that were issued in selected time period and on analysis of archive materials associated with this topic. The sixties in Czechoslovakia are a period when rigidly regulated one party (KSČ) regime started to loosen its grip. This process was supported by cultural magazines including "Host do domu". The literary magazine "Host do domu" belonged to a certain type of magazines that were trying to deliver articles, parts of fiction and poetry that was not in accordance with regime regulations. Author book - Apology / Reconciliation (theoretical - practical thesis)

The theoretical part focuses on the theme of the book - letter print - from the technical point of view. Further it explores the history, origin and various forms of a book. The thesis includes also chapters about a copyright book and the term " bibliophile". It also gives brief information about the graphic art, especially the technique of gravure. In the last part it aims at two personalities of Czech culture - a painter and graphic artist Jiří John and Jan Skácel. The practical part of the thesis is conceived as a folder that includes series of graphics accompanied with poetic texts. The graphic works are made by dry needle. The texts are written by Jan Skácel. The topic of the the copyright book expresses the author´s memories of her grandmother. The topics of each graphic work depicts the psychology of the contrast between the oldness and the youth and at the same time of the loss of a close person. The practical part should be also a sort of bibliophile.

Tereza Lesáková O slunovratu - Jan Skácel's Poetry Musicalised The thesis deals with the relationship between poetry and its musicalised version, namely with the poems by Jan Skácel used on the CD O slunovratu by Jiří Pavlica and Hradišťan. The thesis is based on the interpretation of the song lyrics and the poems and their comparison, aiming at discovering possible shifts in meaning. A small research of qualitative character was added to find out the audience's understanding of the selected songs.

"The landscape outside and inside"

This thesis explores the phenomenon of the landscape and its changes in relation to poems by Jan Skacel. Closer analysis focuses on two selected collections of his poems, especially the seven poems, to be followed later their artistic interpretations done in two ways.
